Kick the Habbit
Yesterday's Kick the habbit run, they initially said they'll give medals to the top 200 finishers, however by the time we are at the starting line, they changed the rule to only the top 50 finishers having finisher's medals.
I was blessed to enter the top 50 finishers even if the event was held from the Ultra track oval, to the Uphill areas of Pasig's "Motel District".
It was also great meeting billy ray bates again during the event, seeing he is in the same club as Jeremy Lin, Shaq, AI and MJ. He was very surprised as I pulled out my Crispa #2 bates jersey and asked him to sign it as he screamed "How did you do that?"

Fire Burns Anew.
As if last conference's Cinderella Run wasn't enough, The Powerade Tigers needs to overcome adversity once more. This time it is no longer doubters, FB trolls, First seeded teams or sportscasters shouting "no chance in hell". This time the Tigers are against survival. Literally and Figuratively.
With the team's rumored sale offer and uncertain future, followed by Marcio's trade on hold (I don't care what the higher ups from the teams say, this is an unfair trade, and the PBA should stop entertaining these kinds of trades). The team faces a new type of distraction perhaps.
Aided by it's 6'11 import (and one time White Mamba teammate) Dwayne Jones as inspiration, The tigers once down again by a large margin nearing the endgame made a late game rally to win 122-120, beating their semifinals opponent, the Rain or Shine Elastopainters. As if it was the same scenario as the last nail biting semis series.
People were saying if the team got a good post player, then it can address its weaknesses and become a much fiercer squad than last year. Now with Jones virtually playing a significant fraction of the game. This team is on a better shape than last conference's squad.
Jones finished with 34 points to compliment David's 32. J-Shock Casio scored 14 points, all in the second half.
A Runner’s Haven Opens: Riovana at Bonifacio Global City and Katipunan
A different high was experienced by each and every visitor of the newly opened concept store Riovana, the brainchild of Rio dela Cruz, more popularly known as Coach Rio, a prominent figure in the running industry. Wanting to give professional runners and enthusiasts a heightened experience before, during and after each race, Coach Rio came up with the idea of combining a retail store that becomes a one-stop shop for all running gears, apparels and shoes with facilities that can allow members to hang out in the lounge area, register for marathons and even freshen up before and after each race through its available locker and shower rooms.
Indeed, the store lives up to the inspiration of its namesake: a combination of the founder's name, which is synonymous to the most popular icon in the running industry (Rio) and nir(VANA), which connotes enlightenment and freedom. Its tagline: the sole of running, makes use of the play of words connoting that the Riovana is the heart and soul of running as a sport.
This is part of Coach Rio's vision to be able to help each and every runner achieve his/her own running nirvana, preparing each and every runner's body and soul. By providing them with the right information, gears, apparels and shoes, together with the right facilities for training and post relaxation, Riovana then becomes a sanctuary for those who wish to go beyond their limitations and experience a different kind of running high.
Riovana carries a wide array of running footwear, accessories and apparel for all levels. Popular brands such as Adidas, Asics, New Balance, Mizuno, Oakley, Rudy Project, Zoot, Garmin, Timex, Nike, Sigg, Saucony, Jaybird, Soleus, Thorlo’s, Otterbox, Garmin, Clif Energy Gel&Bar, Hammergel and Carbroom gel and powder, are just some under Riovana's wings. Other products like Energy Gels and Power Bar are also being sold.
Another highlight of this concept store, apart from its modern, quirky look inspired by the various scenes normally encountered by road runners, is its innovative 3-camera set up for Gait Analysis, a method of checking the movement and posture of an individual in order to find the right pair of shoes for him/her. This is a free service that helps determine, based on one's foot type, fitness level and reasons for buying, which type of running shoes can work best.
Capping off this wonderful Riovana experience is the Sole Healing: a massage/recovery center for runners. With several sports doctors, orthopedic surgeons and therapists, it offers various types of treatments to help manage sports injuries, ease sore muscles, relax the runners and give them a most memorable post-running experience.
Take a journey now inside this unique concept store that promises a blissful escape for all runners. Visit Riovana at the following addresses: Ground Floor Active Fun Building 9th Avenue Corner 28th Street Bonifacio Global City near Honda BGC and at the 3rd Floor of the Regis Center Building, Loyola Heights Quezon City in front of Ateneo de Manila University.

My Entry at the Pinoy Fitness Tech Shirt Design Contest!
I forgot to post and campaign for it here, but the last week, I joined Pinoy Fitness' Tech shirt design contest. One of my four designs made it in the finals and placed 2nd overall after the voting was done. I never really thought of winning anything at this contest. All I wanted was for PF's next tech shirt to be colored black.
The streaking line of red and blue was inspired by the 1998 and 2002 Asian Games PHL basketball Jerseys and the Quarter sun was inspired from the shorts of the Philippine Patriots of the ABL season 2.
Thanks to all those who voted. There were some issues in regards to red over blue streaking from left to right. I just want to clarify this:
1. The law only applies to the flag and there is no flag here.
2. The contest wanted a nationalistic shirt and not a flag themed shirt.
3. We treat competition as a battle/ war.
4. The colors can be inverted by a simple click of a paint bucket tool in photoshop.
With that over, I would like to thank the Pinoyfitness.com staff and those who supported the entry!

What Speed Limit?
The second race of the year, I registered for this event as early as after last year's Christmas.
The route was pretty simple, we run around the ADMU compound, go out to Katipunan all the way to green meadows, passing by 2 hills and one underpass while were at it.
A week ago, during the cybph games at admu, we tried jogging around the admu compound to get a feel of the area. From the college courts, to the SEC walk up to Moro Lorenzo. I was expecting about the same, but to my surprise, as the race started, there were some steep hills deep inside the campus, around 20 minutes or so, we were finally out on Katipunan. Granted there were some fumes but the new scenery was worth it. Credits as well for the early start that prevented us runners for having a longer time under the sun.
Before the race, I set a goal that I'd be gunning for 1:45-1:50, my previous best was at 2:00:50 from the 2011 run for integrity. I had to ensure that I'd be passing half of the race within one hour. I passed the U turn slot at green meadows at 1:05 plenty of time to spare. Fatigue finally caught up on the second half of the run, with the sun shining and hills shoving the way.
Near the Ateneo gates, I was a bit disappointed that people were still circling the Blue Eagle gym before crossing the finish line. Turns out it was just from Ateneo's grade school division run aptly titled takbluehan. As I saw that we don't need to make the loop around Blue Eagle gym, I sprinted along the finish line .
A 15k PR! at 1:50:35 though the result wierdly showed a time of 1:51:35, what matters most is the time on my watch. After which they gave out the medals and finisher's shirt.
